What We Do

Global Ties KC provides the link between prominent international leaders (including business, government, and non-profit professionals) and their local counterparts.  Through professional meetings, school visits, events, and home hospitality we connect people from around the world with Citizen Diplomats in western Missouri and the state of Kansas.

In 2016, Global Ties KC hosted 39 programs, bringing over 250 visitors from 100 different countries to Kansas City.

Types of programs include:

International Visitor Leadership Program: a program funded by the Department of State in hopes of promoting foreign policy through face-to-face interaction. The delegates visit many cities in the United States during their time here, and are in Kansas City for approximately 3-5 days.

Open World:  a program funded by Congress in pursuit of bettering relationships between the former Soviet Union and the United States since 1999. Visitors on this program spend between one and two weeks in Kansas City, living with host families.

Youth Programs: exchange programs aimed at empowering youth throughout the world by providing them with the skills needed to be leaders. These programs require a home stay, and Global Ties KC is always looking for interested community members!

Community Connections: sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development which targets Eurasian countries in hopes of establishing international collaboration.
