Thank you for your interest in joining us for the Youth Diplomats Retreat on Saturday, April 27th, 2019! We look forward to learning about what inspires and motivates you to be a global citizen. Below is some general information to help you complete your application.

Eligibility and Selection Process

Current high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors for the 2018-19 academic year are invited to apply for a place in the Youth Diplomats Retreat. Applications will be accepted from homeschooled, public, private, and charter high school students. There is no fee to participate in the retreat.

Space is limited. Students will be selected based on proven leadership in the community, interest in global affairs, and ability to use the program content to further diplomacy in Kansas City.

Program Details

The Youth Diplomats Retreat is a one-day experiential learning opportunity to empower teens in Kansas City to be active global citizens. A full-day intensive seminar will bring students from all over the KC Metro together for a workshop “Looking at Kansas City through a Cultural Lens”. Global Ties KC will provide breakfast and lunch for participants throughout the day.

If selected, students agree to attend the retreat on Saturday, April 27 from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. at Kansas City Union Station (30 West Pershing Road, Kansas City, MO 64108).

Students who attend the April 27 Retreat will be eligible to apply for a fully-sponsored trip to Washington D.C. The trip will include visits to the U.S. Department of State, Embassies, International NGOs, and cultural sites.
