Thank you for your interest in the Global Ties KC Youth Diplomats Program! We look forward to learning about what inspires and motivates you to be a global citizen. Below is some general information to help you complete your application.

Eligibility and Selection Process

Current high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors for the 2019-2020 academic year are invited to apply for a place in the Youth Diplomats Program. Applications will be accepted from homeschooled, public, private, and charter high school students. There is no fee to participate in this program.

Space is limited. Students will be selected based on proven leadership in the community, interest in global affairs, and ability to use the program content to further diplomacy in Kansas City.

Program Details

The Youth Diplomats Program is a nine-month experiential learning opportunity to empower teens in Kansas City to be active global citizens. A series of monthly workshops and seminars will bring students from all over the KC Metro together. Global Ties KC will provide lunch for participants on each meeting day.

If selected, students agree to attend 6/8 of the following meeting days: September 21, October 26, November 16, January 18, February 15, March 21, April 18, and May 16. The location will be in downtown Kansas City for approximately 3-4 hours per session. Eligible students may receive a transportation stipend if deemed necessary for program participation.

Students who complete the program successfully will be eligible for to apply for a fully-sponsored trip to Washington D.C. in Summer 2020. The trip will include visits to the U.S. Department of State, Embassies, International NGOs, and cultural sites.
